An opening for a research position is available to study the impact of various cover crop species on soil health and crop productivity.

The study will focus on identifying the composition and nutrient release of different cover crop species, evaluating their effect on soil N availability, crop N uptake and N use efficiency, crop yield, and assessing short-term soil health benefits from cover cropping.

Graduate Assistantships Clearinghouse Requirements:

The assistantship clearing house is a compiled list of graduate assistantship position available at the University of Illinois.

Here is the requirement for the aforementioned research position:

  • The ideal candidate must possess a B.S. or M.S. in Agronomy, Crop Sciences, Soil Sciences, Environmental Science or a closely related field.
  • The candidate should have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and a willingness to participate in agricultural fieldwork. Additionally, they must have the ability to obtain IL Driver Authorization.

Eligibility:

  • International student with a Bachelor degree or master degree in relevant field.
  • Relevant experience in the research area is preferred.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the logistics of the field experiment, collecting water, plant and soil samples at the research site, supervising undergraduate student workers, leading in data analysis, writing reports, and preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-review journals.
