Hatfield Lioness Postgraduate Scholarship
The primary objective of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship is to facilitate a female scholar from a developing nation where access to higher education is constrained to reap the advantages of pursuing post-baccalaureate studies at Durham University.
The scholarship was initiated as a component of the commemoration of 30 years of women’s enrolment at Hatfield College, Durham University, in 2018, and it is financially supported by alumni, well-wishers of the college, and other sources that endorse the goals of the bursary.
Hatfield College strives to confer the Lioness Bursary on an individual who possesses the academic and personal characteristics required to successfully complete and derive benefits from a postgraduate program, and who will also serve as a positive representative for their home nation in Durham.
Furthermore, the recipient will utilize the advanced knowledge and skills acquired from the master’s program and experience in Durham for the betterment of their society upon their return home.
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to have applied for and received an unreserved admission to their preferred master’s program before June 2023. Prospective candidates must not have been granted any other financial aid to sponsor their graduate studies.
- Candidates must belong to the female gender.

Scholarship Rewards and Application Process
Level & Mode of study: Full Time Taught Master’s Degree programmes
Year of Entry: The scholarship is available for students starting a degree programme in September/October 2023.
Benefits:
- The scholarship encompasses the following expenses: Complete coverage of the university tuition fees
- A stipend to cover living expenses
- One round-trip economy airfare from the home nation to the UK,
- Fully sponsored, self-catered, mixed-gender lodging at Hatfield College
- An initial settling-in allowance upon arrival Costs related to obtaining a UK visa and the UK Health surcharge
Limitations: The scholarship does not provide funding for dependants or travel while on the scholarship Accommodation is exclusively for the scholarship recipient, and no dependents will be accommodated
How to apply:
Step 1: Submit an academic application for your desired master’s program, indicating your intention to apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship;
Step 2: Submit a scholarship application via this application form;
Step 3: Submit all supporting documents (Durham University offer letter, academic transcript, references, and IELTS certificate) by email to hatfield.trust@durham.ac.uk before the deadline.
