Specifically, this project involves the application of statistical models to address inquiries regarding the spatial and temporal dynamics of predator-prey relationships and the variability in prey populations, such as capelin and northern shrimp, found on the Newfoundland and Labrador shelf.

The utilization of these models will contribute to understanding ecosystem dynamics, fisheries stock assessment, and the implementation of ecosystem-based fisheries management. Additionally, this project offers collaboration opportunities with researchers from Memorial University and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Requirements/Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science/Ecology, Statistics, Mathematics, Marine Ecology/Biology, Oceanography, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated quantitative skills and experience with R or Python.
• Strong written and communication skills.

Benefits:
