PhD Scholarships in Agriculture for Developing Countries

Details:

ZALF is a research institute focused on finding sustainable agricultural solutions.

The PhD position is part of the iCSA project in collaboration with the COINS project.

The research will investigate the role of crop and farm simulation modelling in supporting stakeholder processes in West African agriculture.

PhD scholarships in Agriculture

The successful candidate will review literature, develop and execute a protocol for interactions between modelers and actors, conduct focus group discussions and expert interviews, and use social science methods to test the effectiveness of different interaction approaches.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in agricultural or development economics, rural sociology, or farm system analysis.

The candidate must have an interest in applying social science methods, systems thinking, and a willingness to travel to West Africa to conduct research.

Fully-funded PhD in Agriculture Eligibility:

  • Women and severely disabled persons are encouraged to apply.
  • It is possible to work part-time.
